In The Hamptons With Al

The Countess called on Thursday to say we should come to the beach right away and stay until Labor Day. It's lucky we had so many outfits planned.

It turned out that her dog, Alexander The Great, is actually tiny. He’s even smaller than I am and that long name is just ridiculous, so I call him Al.

We're having the best time going to the beach and having barbeques with ribs and lobster…dee-lish!
I hope Al and I can see each other in the city.

Packing for the Hamptons

Mabel’s friend, The Countess, has invited us for Labor Day Weekend. She has a dog named Alexander The Great who she talks about all the time. I’ve never had a dog for a friend and I’m not too sure I’m going to like him….Besides, what kind of name is Alexander The Great?

Meanwhile, Mabel has been going through our closets to choose our outfits. If I have to try on another thing, I’ll have a fit.

Becky Comes Home from Camp

Becky has been in camp in the Adirondacks for weeks and weeks, and Alice would have been devastated if I hadn’t appeared on the scene. As soon as we heard Becky come out of the elevator, we ran to meet her. She looked so cute in her camp uniform.

I wonder if there’s a camp in the Adirondacks for cats.

Miss Thing Does Everything

I love Nigel’s house in The Pines. He has two decks and a swimming pool and best of all he has Miss Thing, who cooks and cleans and does everything around the house including vacuuming…he even vacuumed moi and I absolutely loved it!

Miss Thing made me an umbrella drink that tasted like catnip…dee-lish! I hope I get invited back soon.

Fire Island Weekend

Nigel invited us to his house at The Pines on Fire Island. There are no cars, so everyone uses a wagon to bring stuff everywhere.

Nigel had already picked up groceries, so he added our suitcases and a new fishing rod we brought him for a present . I sat on top of everything, pretending I was the Queen of The Boardwalk…and thinking of the fish Nigel was going to catch for our dinner.

Mousing in Mrs. G’s Attic

Last night we went mousing in one of Mrs. G’s attics. Rupert was excellent at catching mice – he had been doing it since he was a kitten. I had done my share in the basement of the gourmet shop before I came to live with Mabel. But Monty had never seen a mouse in his life, and he was very nervous.

“Don’t worry,” Rupert said, “mousing is instinctive to cats.” I don’t know how Rupert knows these things…he’s a lot smarter than he looks.

As we started up the stairs, Monty saw a mouse peeking out of the wall. I don’t know who was more surprised, but Monty rose to the occasion and pounced.

Boys Hate Water

Mrs. G invited Mabel and me to her country house for the week-end. Monty had arrived the week before and was staying for another week because Larry Lewis was on safari in Africa and he didn’t want Monty to be lonely.

There’s a beautiful pool and I sat in the floating chair, which has a special place for a drink. I invited the boys into the pool, but after dipping in their paws, they jumped back and ran away. I just drank my fish tea which had a little umbrella floating in it. I thought the water was divine.

TV Dreams: Cats Have Talent

Mabel has gotten into the talent reality shows. They’re a little too people oriented for moi…but last night I dreamed there was a show for cats and there I was walking on a tightrope with an umbrella and Rupert was on his unicycle. I woke up before the winner was announced, but I can’t believe any cats could beat us. We were totally fabulous!
