On The Beach

It was so crazy in our apartment that I thought we'd never get away. The phone kept ringing off the wall because everybody wanted us to go to their island and Mabel kept changing her mind and calling the travel agent every five minutes until Nigel finally said, "ENOUGH! I've gotten us invited to a friend's house on Little Cayman. We're booked on a flight on Friday morning and I don't want to hear another word!"

Then we had to go shopping for bathing suits and sarongs and sun block and who knows what else for Mabel. She was so busy, she almost forgot to get a sarong for moi. Jenny packed enough of my food for a month and we almost didn't have enough room in our bags, but we finally got everything together and here we are on the beach.

Do't you just love my new sarong?

Travel Plans

Mabel's been on the phone for days. She finally realized we have to get out of Dodge and onto a plane for someplace with a beach.

Her friend, The Countess, invited us to her house in Anguilla. Nigel wants us to go to Turks and Caicos so he can scuba dive all day. And Larry Lewis suggested we go the Bahamas because there are good deals on travel and there's gambling. I wish she'd make up her mind already.

I don't care where we go as long as it's warm.

The Sunday Times

Mabel's busy reading the Times. She starts with Style, of course, and then The News. Right now she's into News Of The Week In Review. I keep nudging the Travel section next to her chair, but she hasn't picked it up yet.

Wait...she's reaching down...oh, no...she's got her hand on the Magazine section. I guess I'll have to take matters into my own paws and show her where we should be going...SOON!

Think WARM

This winter business is really boring. Enough already with the cold -- I feel positively trapped. I wish Mabel would get on the phone and make us reservations for someplace warm. How can I get her to think WARM?

Sledding in Central Park

Guess what? It worked. Mabel got on the phone to Nigel and told him to go shopping for a sled and some new warm clothes so they could take me to the park.

I look so cute in my new outfit -- I'll have to get my friend Laura to draw you a picture.

We went to the park and they pulled me up the hill on the sled. When we got to the top, Nigel turned the sled around and jumped on behind me. Down we went. It was thrilling! We did it again and again. And people clapped and cheered. I heard some people talk about bringing their cats to the park.

After awhile it got cold, so we went home. Mabel and Nigel had hot toddies-- whatever they are. And Jenny gave me a bowl of warm milk. We all curled up in front of the fireplace and had a snooze.

It's Snowing

When I woke up this morning and looked out the window at Central Park, it was all white -- covered with snow. There were lots of children on sleds. It looked like fun. I dragged Mabel to the window hoping she'd get the hint to take me on a sled. I had it all planned. She'd dress me up in a warm fluffy coat, and a hat, and boots, and a scarf and everything.

But she just got on the phone to her friend, Nigel and said, "The park looks so pretty, why don't we go for a walk?" And out they went...without moi!

I went right to Mabel's closet and took one of her new shoes and hid it in my room.

When she got ready to go out to dinner that night, she looked high and low for that shoe. But she didn't find it. Tomorrow I'll put it back. That'll get her thinking.

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I'm curled up in front of the fireplace in our apartment -- 5A of course, waiting for my friends to come over for a play date. Rupert lives in the penthouse with Mrs. G; Alice lives across the hall with Becky and her parents; and my boyfriend, Monty lives on the 12th floor with Larry Lewis.

We're just playing today and catching up on what everybody did for the holidays. Tomorrow it's back to work tasting Jenny's new dishes for Mabel's Table. That's our company that makes gourmet cat food -- which I wrote about in my new book that's coming out at the end of this month.

The door bell's ringing -- gotta go.
